UNNES LUPIC Team Attended the FabLab Corner Opening Ceremony at Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji (UMRAH)

One of the goals of the Leading University Program for International Cooperation (LUPIC) is to provide adaptive and accessible chemistry learning for all. Fabrication laboratories (FabLabs) are one pedagogical tool that can translate ideas into tangible products. As one of the partner universities in the LUPIC collaboration, Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji (UMRAH) shares this spirit as well.

Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji (UMRAH) has established a FabLab which was inaugurated on February 11, 2026. The LUPIC UNNES team consisting of Prof. Dr. Woro Sumarni, M.Si., Cepi Kurniawan, Ph.D., Dr. Dimas Gilang Ramadhani and partners; Dr. Khairiatul Muna (UIN Antasari Banjarmasin) and Dr. Anderson (Universitas Negeri Manado) also attended the inauguration of the FabLab Corner of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji (UMRAH).

This FabLab (Fabrication Laboratory) is the result of a partnership between the UPI LUPIC Team and UMRAH in expanding the LUPIC activity network in the Sumatra region while creating higher education that is adaptive to the development of industrial technology 4.0 and society 5.0. The opening ceremony began with the Sekapur Sirih Dance by five dancers as a welcome dance to greet the guests. The welcome continued with the reading of Gurindam 12 composed by Raja Ali Haji which contains advice on the importance of doing good.

At the opening ceremony, the Vice Rector 3 of UMRAH for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, Dr. Suryadi, S.P., M.H., gave his remarks representing the Rector of UMRAH. Sogang University representative, Mr. Sung Min Kim, representing Prof. Woo Kon Lee, expressed his hope that the inauguration of FabLab at UMRAH would encourage the birth of young innovators who are creative, adaptive, and contribute to continuing education. The opening ceremony of FabLab Edu UMRAH was marked by the striking of the gong by the Vice Rector 3.

The UMRAH FabLab facility is equipped with various supporting devices such as 3D printing machines, CNC, digital design devices, and other fabrication equipment that support the design and prototyping process. The presence of this laboratory also opens up opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration and cooperation with national and international partners. After the end of the opening ceremony, a group photo was taken with representatives of Sogang University, and the LUPIC team from the consortium and partner universities. In addition, all invited guests were given the opportunity to a tour the FabLab located at the Faculty of Teacher training and Education UMRAH.
