Pelatihan Praktikum Skala Mikro Dorong Profesionalisme Guru Kimia

Semarang, 11 Juni 2025 — Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (FMIPA) Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) terus mendorong peningkatan profesionalisme guru kimia melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Salah satunya diwujudkan melalui pelatihan bertema “Peningkatan Profesionalisme Guru Kimia melalui Praktikum Skala Mikro yang Efisien dan Efektif” yang diikuti oleh guru SMA dan MA se-Kabupaten Demak.
Kegiatan yang dipimpin oleh Prof. Dr. Woro Sumarni, M.Si., ini diselenggarakan di Laboratorium Kimia FMIPA UNNES. Pelatihan dirancang untuk membekali guru dengan keterampilan praktis dalam melaksanakan praktikum kimia skala mikro yang efisien, hemat biaya, serta aman untuk diterapkan di sekolah.


Tim pelaksana yang terlibat dalam kegiatan ini antara lain Siti Herlina Dewi, M.Pd., Martin Sulityani, S.Pd., dan Dimas Gilang Ramadhani, M.Pd. Dalam pelatihan ini, peserta juga diperkenalkan pada perangkat laboratorium skala mikro yang merupakan hibah dari Sogang University, Korea Selatan, melalui program kerja sama LUPIC bersama UNNES, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), dan Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha).
Kegiatan dibuka oleh Kepala Laboratorium Terpadu FMIPA UNNES, Dr. Sigit Priatmoko, M.Si., yang menekankan pentingnya kemampuan adaptasi guru terhadap keterbatasan fasilitas laboratorium di sekolah.
Selanjutnya, Siti Herlina Dewi, M.Pd., memaparkan urgensi pendekatan praktikum skala mikro dalam pendidikan sains modern. Ia menekankan bahwa metode ini tidak hanya meningkatkan efisiensi dan efektivitas pembelajaran, tetapi juga berkontribusi dalam mengurangi limbah bahan kimia.

Pada sesi praktik, peserta secara aktif melakukan berbagai percobaan, seperti reaksi asam-basa, reaksi redoks, dan pengujian larutan menggunakan bahan sederhana yang tetap memenuhi standar ilmiah. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran kimia yang bermakna tetap dapat dilaksanakan meskipun dengan keterbatasan sarana.
Salah satu peserta menyampaikan, “Praktikum mikro sangat sesuai dengan kondisi sekolah kami. Selain hemat, siswa tetap mendapatkan pengalaman eksperimen yang mendalam dan relevan.”
Kegiatan ditutup dengan sesi diskusi reflektif mengenai perancangan dan implementasi praktikum skala mikro dalam Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP). Antusiasme peserta terlihat dari aktifnya diskusi dan berbagi pengalaman selama kegiatan berlangsung.

Melalui pelatihan ini, diharapkan para guru dapat mengimplementasikan praktikum skala mikro secara berkelanjutan di sekolah, sehingga pembelajaran kimia menjadi lebih aman, efisien, dan kontekstual.
Micro-Scale Practicum Training Enhances Chemistry Teachers’ Professionalism
Semarang, June 11, 2025 — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), continues to promote the professional development of chemistry teachers through community service initiatives. One of these efforts was realized through a training program titled “Enhancing Chemistry Teachers’ Professionalism through Efficient and Effective Micro-Scale Practicum,” attended by senior high school (SMA) and Islamic senior high school (MA) teachers from Demak Regency.
The training, led by Prof. Dr. Woro Sumarni, M.Si., was held at the Chemistry Laboratory of FMIPA UNNES. It was designed to equip teachers with practical skills in conducting micro-scale chemistry experiments that are efficient, cost-effective, and safe for implementation in schools.
The organizing team included Siti Herlina Dewi, M.Pd., Martin Sulityani, S.Pd., and Dimas Gilang Ramadhani, M.Pd. Participants were also introduced to micro-scale laboratory equipment provided through a grant from Sogang University, South Korea, under the LUPIC (Leading University Project for International Cooperation) program in collaboration with UNNES, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), and Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha).
The program was officially opened by the Head of the Integrated Laboratory of FMIPA UNNES, Dr. Sigit Priatmoko, M.Si., who emphasized the importance of teachers’ adaptability in addressing the limitations of school laboratory facilities.
In the following session, Siti Herlina Dewi, M.Pd., highlighted the importance of micro-scale approaches in contemporary science education. She emphasized that this method not only improves the efficiency and effectiveness of learning but also reduces chemical waste.
During the hands-on session, participants conducted various experiments, including acid-base and redox reactions, and solution testing, using simple materials that still met scientific standards. This activity demonstrated that meaningful chemistry learning can still be achieved despite limited resources.
One participant remarked, “Micro-scale practicum is highly suitable for our school conditions. It is cost-efficient, yet students still gain meaningful and relevant experimental experience.”
The program concluded with a reflective discussion session focusing on the design and implementation of micro-scale practicum in lesson planning. Participants showed high enthusiasm, actively engaging in discussions and sharing their experiences.
Through this training, it is expected that teachers will be able to sustainably implement micro-scale practicum in their schools, making chemistry learning safer, more efficient, and more contextual.
