Fablab Kimia UNNES Holds 3D Design and Printing Workshop for Students

Semarang, February 6, 2026 — The Chemistry Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab) of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) organized a Digital 3D Design and Printing workshop for students as part of its effort to enhance digital design and manufacturing skills among university students.

The workshop was conducted in a hybrid format. Offline participants came from Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang and UIN Walisongo Semarang, while online participants joined from several universities across Indonesia, including Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, UIN Antasari Banjarmasin, Universitas Islam Kalimantan, Universitas Mulawarman, and Universitas Negeri Manado.

During the workshop, participants were introduced to 3D printing technology and the FreeCAD software, along with its basic features for 3D modeling. These fundamental tools are essential for students interested in technical design, prototyping, and educational applications.

Following the theoretical session, participants received hands-on guidance to create 3D designs and carry out the printing process using 3D printers. This practical session provided valuable experience in transforming digital designs into physical objects.

The workshop received positive responses from participants, who showed strong enthusiasm throughout both the discussion and hands-on sessions.

Through this activity, FabLab Kimia UNNES hopes that students will develop relevant technological skills aligned with industry and educational needs, while also fostering creativity and innovation in digital design.
